Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take clients from other counties or regions?

Yes, with the advancement of telehealth, we are able to help clients from anywhere in Washington State.

Do clients pursuing home birth options need to meet certain criteria?

Whether birth is planned in the home or at the birthing center, it is considered a community or out of hospital birth. While research supports the safety and improved outcomes of community birth, there are some limitations and requirements of clients for whom out of hospital birth is a safe option. An overall definition of low-risk ensures birthing families with complicated health history or higher potential for complications can be provided the level of care they need. However, the definition of low-risk can be elusive for families and a consult with the midwife is the best way to sort out what level of risk there may be and whether midwifery care in the community setting is the safest and most empowering option for you.

Can you be my primary care provider?

Yes, as a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, I provide care for women throughout their lifespan. This means you can see me for anything from a sprained ankle, you develop pneumonia, or just need a yearly wellness check. I provide preventative and maintenance care for the healthy as well as treatment and intervention for the ill.

Can you be my baby’s doctor?

Certified Nurse-Midwives care for newborns up to 28 days old. Beyond that point, I help navigate and provide support in negotiating the realm of pediatricians, naturopaths, and family practice providers for who might be the best fit for your family. I do provide lactation support, weight checks, and general health guidance through the first year, but always encourage families to find a more permanent solution for their baby’s wellness checks and vaccinations.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am in network with most of the insurance companies in our region. We can always check benefits and discounted care options/sliding scale is always available as well.
